All around Paris there is a lot of beautiful picturesque villages. It’s widely known that impressionists preferred living around Paris to living in the center of the famous city. After living for 37 years of his life in Netherlands, Belgium, England and France Van Gogh found the peace in the heart of Auvers-sur-Oise, a village 30 kilometers to the north of Paris.
The Auberge Ravoux was the last home of that great painter. The site is a listed French historic monuments and the only place lived in by Van Gogh still surviving in its original state. In a small room that you can visit there is no much to see but there is lot to feel.
The city hall by Van Gogh
Only seventy days that Van Gogh spent in Auvers-sur Oise were astonishingly prolific: the picturesque location, its inhabitants and surrounding countryside inspired him to paint more than seventy pictures!
