As I already mentioned in THIS article about Musée Jacquemart André we decided to discover some new interesting Parisian museums during this horrible gray winter.
The Musée Carnavalet is “one of the capital’s most genuinely Parisian museums”. The oldest of the municipal museums tells the story of Paris from the prehistoric era to the present day, in all its immense variety. Although it is essentially a history museum, the musée Carnavalet is nevertheless an art gallery exhibiting mostly original works in keeping with the spirit of the genius of Paris.
I recommend you to go visit this beautiful museum situated in a remarkable architectural setting in the Marais district. Since this is one of the municipal museums (I wrote HERE about another municipal museum) the admission is free for its permanent collections and themed exhibitions. The museum is really huge even it doesn’t seem to be so it will be great to do a little research about its collections before visiting.
